The 2017 Investment Promotion Conference of Thanh Hoa province took place successfully on the evening of May 18 at the International Convention Center – Sam Son FLC Tourist Complex, with the participation of the Prime Minister and 1,200 national and international delegates.
The conference took place under the presence of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Xung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee said that the province is mobilizing resources to fulfill 100% of the site clearance progress requirement; putting public administration centers at all levels into operation in 2017; reducing by 30% of time for resolving administrative procedures compared with regulations.
According to the socio-economic development master plan introduced by BCG consulting company (USA), by 2030 and with a vision to 2040, Thanh Hoa proposes 5 priority areas, including: processing and manufacturing industry; agriculture; tourism; medical; infrastructure and urban development.
By 2030, the province aims to increase the total GDP of the current Vietnamese economy to 8% from 3%; attracting 30 million visitors; total GRDP is expected to reach 50 billion USD; GRDP per capita is estimated at 11,000 USD / person.
At the conference, Mr. Hironobu Kitagawa, Chief Representative of Japan Trade Promotion Office in Hanoi revealed a remarkable number: the number of investment projects of Japanese enterprises in Thanh Hoa has reached 14, with a total investment capital is higher than the total investment capital of Japanese enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi combined, ranking first in the country.
Sharing the experience of the largest domestic investor in Thanh Hoa, Mr. Trinh Van Quyet – Chairman of FLC Group, FLC Faros said, FLC Sam Son project – where the investment promotion conference took place today, can be seen as a living evidence of Thanh Hoa’s success in creating an attractive environment to attract domestic and foreign investment.
“Sam Son FLC has contributed to changing the tourism appearance of Sam Son in particular, Thanh Hoa province in general, with the number of visitors coming to Sam Son surging in 2016, reaching more than 4 million people, creating jobs for more than 3,000 local workers, increasing revenue for the local budget ”, Mr. Trinh Van Quyet said.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said: “The conference took place right on the 127th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s birthday. I wanted Thanh Hoa province to become one of the best provinces in the North. This investment promotion conference has contributed to the realization of Uncle Ho’s wish ”.
The Prime Minister said, Thanh Hoa needs to optimize the available conditions and foundations to develop a number of economic clusters that Thanh Hoa has advantages such as petrochemical refining, seafood processing, tourism.

The Prime Minister also noted that Thanh Hoa needs to research and develop according to hi-tech orientation and large-scale agriculture, focusing on products of high economic value. At the same time, it is necessary to diversify different types of service based on the fact that Thanh Hoa has many cultural heritages, such as the Ho Dynasty citadel, Lam Kinh historical site, Ham Rong cultural historical site, etc.
